Bathroom Guide

Found a white tshirt which has yellowed from hanging in the closet unworn for 5 years. How to clean?

I've never had luck with this, not sure if it's some sort of dust or just yellowed? Anyone know what to do? I haven't touched it yet. It's the collar and along the creases.

  1. Bleach.
  2. wash it with hot water (60 degrees or more) and bleacher. I do this every summer with the white clothes turned yellowish from being stored for many months. It should work with one time wash. But you may repeat the treatment another time to have it perfect.
  3. Try soaking it in a bucket of Oxyclean overnight, then launder. If that doesn't do the trick, best to throw the shirt out.
  4. bleach or 20 mule team detergent oh yea they have spot removers that might work also
  5. A regular run in the washer w/ bleach and detergent should do the trick. Good luck
  6. put the washer on a sm load and put a cup of bleach in it and let it soak for 15 to 20 minutes, use the setting hot and it should come out...Good Luck.
  7. a little bleach in the water should work I have the same problem each spring/winter when I switch out my clothes.
  8. You should be able to restore your clothes to white (and not damage the fibres of the fabric) by soaking them them in lukewarm water and color safe or oxygen bleach for 24 hours, then rinse them with vinegar and water. Use one tablespoon of vinegar to one quart of water. After treating them overnight, wash them in hot water with chlorine bleach added. This should refresh them to their original white state. If possible, dry them in the sun.Good luck! :)
  9. make a paste of 1:1:1 mix Baking Soda, Hydrogen Peroxide and hot water. Apply paste to yellow stains and let soak at least 30 minutes. Rinse off paste. You may need to do more than 1 application of the paste before all the stain is removed.
  10. why bother doing anything with it. Throw it out, they are cheep enough to buy a new one. Go to Primark it will only cost you a couple of pounds for a new one
  11. soak in cold water , rub in natural soap and leave the soap on for 1/2 hr free from water. back to cold water rub in more soap and pop into your washing machine on a 40Âșc normal wash cycle. Once done hang outside in the sun , the sun will bleach the yellow stain out. Once the T-shirt is in the sun , keep sprinkling cold water over any remaining stain, do this every now and then and the sun should bleach it all out. The old fashioned way for removing stains , takes a few turns & time , but it will come out
  12. There is a product you can by made by RIT dye company, I believe it is called white out. It works really well, just follow the directions on the box. You can usually find it where the RIT dye is located.
