Cat having a hard time going to the bathroom?

my kitten is having a hard time going to the bathroom, he doesn't meow on a regular basis but he is meowing and it sounds like a cry. I went to check on him and he looked very stressed. What could i do to make it easier for him to go?

  1. Sounds like a urinary blockage. You need to get him to the vet ASAP.
  2. Is it the actual act of going to the bathroom? If so, I would take him to a vet. There may be an underlying health problem that is making it hard for him to go.
  3. It needs medical attention. Does it have plenty of fresh water available at all times?
  4. can you tell whether he's trying to pee or poop? you should call your vet and ask his advice, if it's urinary tract blockage it is very painful and can be deadly, don't delay
  5. sounds like what my cat had crystals in his urine, we had to buy him special cat food, the vets is the only place you can get it.
  6. Vet ASAP, I almost lost a cat due to urinary tract blockage. It's happened twice to Ozzy and luckily he made it through both times. If kitty is just trying to poo, then he may be constipated, encourage a lot of water. If he's constipated this will help loosen the poo, but I'd still get him to the vet. They can die from a urinary tract blockage.
  7. Agree with Vet ASAP. A blockage in a cat can become FATAL very quickly.
  8. If the cat is male, he may have crystals which block his passage to go to the toilet. He will need to go to the vet, then a special diet. My male cat had this same problem, he's mostly on a wet food diet now, and hasn't had the crystals come back, but it's quite common in male cats.
  9. Take him to the vet right away. My little kitten use to do that but he did because he was still very young and not weened from his mom yet. Always better safe then sorry. You need to have him checked out.
  10. Call the vet, prob a urinary infection or something only the vet will see.
