hot water problems with electric water heater?
I turn on my hot water faucets, the water runs for maybe 60 seconds then stops. No water at all comes out of faucet. No time for it to even warm up, let alone turn hot. Does not run "squirty" like there is air in the pipes. It happens in the kitchen, bathroom sink and bathtub. I checked the water heater, does not look like it has leaked. The "squiggly" pipes coming into the tank at the top are warm to the touch. We flipped the breaker and it did not change anything. The cold water is fine...worked thru five loads of laundry this morning. Water heater is about five years old. any suggestions appreciated.

- How hard is your water?? Hardness affects the hot side much faster than the cold side.
- It sounds like an obstruction in the hot water line. I base this on the 60 seconds of flow you do get. That might be explained by water slowly leaking into the hot water lines and building up to full pressure. But then, when you open a faucet, the pressure is quickly depleted so the water quits flowing. Make sure if there is a valve it is opened fully. If there is no valve you may have a pipe closed off by corrosion or mineral buildup or a foreign object that made it's way into the heater. Bert
- calcium and iron built up might be your problem or the bottom heating element is bad sometimes top element is warm bottom is cold
- There could be two problems. One there are little screens in the sink facuet that can get clogged. Or it can be one of the elements in the hot water heater.
