Bathroom Guide

i just cu my finger open?

ive seen this happen to my grandpa and he never went to the ER. this is how it happened.i was cutting a mango and i got careless and ended cutting the right side of my index finger closest to the nail with a knife and its a little deep. there is pain but not enough for me to yell or cry and go crazy. at first i went to my bathroom and put it under the faucet of cold water for like a min or 2. then i took a cotton ball put it over the cut and wrapped it tight with tape. i jus checked on it a few min ago and the bleeding stopped so i changed the cotton ball ans taped it again. is this serious or not since it stoppped bleeding? yeah i tried spreading it and i did not see muscle or fat at all so thats good? and like i said there is a little bit of pain but its not enough for me to cry, yell, or go berserk over it. so im guessin i dont need stitches since it stopped bleeding?

  1. I'm not a Dr. but if you can spread it apart and see fat or muscle, I'd get stitches. If you don't, keep it clean, and it just might grow back funny and you'll have a big scar.
  2. No, if you feel that you dont need stitches, then you probably dont. You can tell if a cut is in need of the ER. You can butterfly it or just do what you have done with the compression. Just be sure to put some neosporin on it so that it stays clean and free from germs. Keep it covered for about 24 hours then let some air get to it so that it can scab over. You'll be fine.
  3. no biggie just change the dressing daily use some neosporin
  4. Owww that sucks. Hopefully you'll be okay though. It sounds like all you really need to do is bandage it, put some Polysporn on it, and just keep a close eye on it. If you see any signs of discoloration or anything, get it looked at.
  5. as long as the bleeding is under control, probably no sutures are needed. I would remove the cotton ball and just place a bandaid on it. It will be tender simply from the trama of cutting it.
  6. you probably should go to the ER just incase you lose too much blood or it gets infected. i'd rather be safe than sorry.even thouh it stopped bleeding, you should probably go see a doctor.
