Bathroom Remodel? I have an old house and am currently remodeling the bathroom, and not sure how to proceed. So far I have tiled one whole wall with white subway tiles, installed a new sink, repaired the original octagonal tile floor and replaced the ceiling with bead board, also in white. My question is, how do I proceed with the other three walls? What would look best? More tile? Drywall? More beadboard? I am trying to maintain the integrity of the original bathroom, which I would say was added to the house around the 1920's. any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
What is the average cost of a bathroom remodel? Small bathroom 6' X 8' needs new toilet, bathtub with shower, pedestal sink, & walls and floors re-done. Plumbing needs replaced too. Just looking for basic remodel. How much? (ballpark estimate). Thank you.
Finding the right contractor to remodel bathroom.? I need to do a complete gut and remodel of my bathroom and I don't know how to find the right contractor. I have asked several people and I get horror stories. I live in a small town and there aren't many remodelers to choose from. I am working with a budget so I am nervous about hiring the wrong person and getting ripped off. I just need advice on how to find the right contractor. If anyone else has had this issue, could you please give me some tips. Thanks :)
What is a realistic budget for bathroom remodel? I need to gut out the bathroom and replace everything. The only fixture I could or want to save is the toilet, which is the cheapest to replace. The floors and walls have water damage and cannot be salvaged. Plus, after putting insulation in the crawlspace, we found that the sewage pipe needs replaced as well. I definitely want to hire a professional for the job, but what is a realistic budget to work with?
How long will it take to complete a small, bathroom remodel? Hi all, I must preface this question with "we only have one bathroom", so time is of the essense. Here's what we want done: - New shower/tub insert - New tile on floor and half way up walls (sorry - not sure what that's called) - Repair water damage (there's a leak in tub area - it's been going on for about 6 months) - New cabinet (will order) - Paint as needed (will keep current color) - Replace fixtures - Update plumbing (I think this will be limited) Other than the water damage, I don't think we'll have to replace/remove any sheetrock. Also, we're keeping the toilet (just replaced). So, how long do you think this will take and is there any wisdom that you'd like to pass along. We're open to all suggestions. We'll be using a friend's bathroom until all is done, but we want it done fast! Thanks!
should i get rid of greenboard in my bathroom remodel? i'm renovating our bathroom and there is greenboard under the tiles. should i continue to use it or use something else? what's wrong with greenboard anyway? it's a tiny downstairs bathroom with a normals size three piece shower..nothing crazy. is greedboard ok here?
Post bathroom remodel question? About 4 weeks ago I had a complete bathroom remodel done, everything demo'ed and all new put in. Is the grout supposed to get darker when the shower is in use? The old tile was not like that, also I keep discovering tiny holes in the grout, that weren't there before. Is either of these something to worry about, or will it cause me problems down the road? I ended up having the contractors from hell, I had to double check everything thing they did, for 3-4 days in a rowI had a punch out sheet daily with between 15-20 items listed that needed to be done and/or corrected. Are the things I mentioned regarding the grout just more to add for them to fix? I don't think the grout was sealed, and I don't know if that is part of the job or an add on, does anyone know what the industry standards ares? Thank you in advance.
Best order of tasks for bathroom remodel? In our bathroom, we would like replace tub, sink and toilet. We'd also like to put down new flooring over the existing vinyl. On some walls we will strip wallpaper and paint. On other walls and in bath area we might re-tile. What is the best order to do these things to minimize bathroom down-time and expense.
How much does a typical bathroom remodel cost in a house? Tub w/ shower, vanity cab/sink/countertop, toilet, tiles on the floor and wall only around the tub up to the wall. Nothing fancy but nothing cheap either. How much does it cost for the whole job include labor materials both? Does it make a big difference to use cast iron tub or steel tub, price-wise? please include a list of break downs for each item and labor seperately? thanks!!!
What are some cheap ways to remodel a bathroom? We are remodeling the house over the next few months and, unfortunately, my bathroom is at the end of the list of things to do. I’m tired of looking at it in the state it’s in while I wait for everything else to happen. Are there any cheap ways I could temporarily spruce it up a little while I wait for my turn?
I am about to remodel my bathroom, does anyone know where I can find plans? I am about to remodel my home, one room at a time, I am starting with the bathroom, does anyone know where I may be able to get plans? I would like to be able to send the dimensions to someone and have them draw a design for me to go by. I have been unable to come up with a nice plan myself, and I want to make my bathroom look real nice. If there is anyone out there that can help me I would be very grateful
Does this price seem fair for a bathroom remodel? $2,500 for tub replacement, new plumbing, ceiling vent fan/light, and installation of 3 regular ceiling fans in different rooms (obviously). I am supplying the tub and fans, the quote is for labor and misc. materials and removal of old fixtures etc. I understand the cost varies depending on the location. I am in New York state (not New York city) if that helps.
DIY bathroom remodel question? We want to replace laminant tile with ceramic, and replace a vanity sink with pedistel sink. We aren't plumbers so curious if we should do sink or floor first. Also how difficult is the sink? I think we will leave the floor to experts.
Bathroom vanities. Any Ideas on a bathroom remodel? I have a 72 inch opening in my bathroom that needs a sink and vanity. Problem is that I am having hard time finding a new 72 inch single sink vanity. What would U do with that size a opening to finish your bathroom? I have no other cabinets in the bathroom. My bathroom is only a 10X7
Fair price for bathroom remodel? Remodeling bathroom, everything is going except tub. Replacing walls, new tile floor/shower, new fixtures, remove old window from bathroom shower, new sink, toilet, vanity, light fixtures, install fan/vent and beadboard/wainscoating. I was given a ballpark of 9-11k including materials we pick out,, detailed estimate in a couple days. Bathroom is not big. Price seems fair but i know nothing about construction. Any thoughts would be helpful
Is this bathroom remodel estimate high? My husband and I are looking to gut and replace our bathroom. It is currently very dated and requires a little plumbing updating. Part of the gutting will be removing an existing linen closet and a built-in vanity and a built-in hamper. The room is 6 by 9 feet with a standard-sized shower/tub insert. We plan on getting standard-grade replacement tub, shower insert, toilet, and vanity. Aside from some plumbing updating, there is no structural issues or any "catches". We live near Boston, Ma. Our estimates for this project so far have been $12,500 and $16,700. Do these estimates sound high? We would like to do this ourselves (as we usually do everything ourselves) but we are expecting a baby very soon and we don't have the time or ability to do it ourselves right now. Thanks in advance for any input.
Bathroom remodel questions: reporcelain tub? new toilet? pedestal sink or cabinet? My house was built in the 60s. The bathroom is small. I can't afford to completely remodel (rip out walls and replace/redesign everything), but something has to be done to make the bathroom better. I'd like to also do things that will be better in the long run should I decide to sell the house in the future. TUB: The tub is large, but the porcelain is worn and chipped. It needs to be resurfaced. I was going to have a company come in and re-porcelain it. It is white now. the tile that covers half of the bathroom is white. (1) Should I get it reporcelained by a company? (2) If so, what color? (3) There is no shower, should I add a shower and those sliding shower doors? TOILET: Currently, the toilet is small. It has an old wooden seat that is broken and needs to be replaced. The hardware is old looking too. I think I should totally replace the toilet. (4) Do you agree? SINK: Currently there is a cabinet sink that it probably 20 years old. It is stained and needs new hardware.... ...More v v v v v v ...This is the only bathroom in the house, so this sink will get used every day. We don't really need the cabinet space because there are three cabinets mounted on the wall in the bathroom and a linen closet right outside of the bathroom. If I install a shower, one cabinet will have to be taken out. (5) Should I install a pedestal sink or one with a counter or cabinet?
How much would it cost to remodel a bathroom that's roughly 10x10? When I say remodel, I mean totally remodel - i.e. new sink, tub, flooring, toilet. However, we're not looking to pay like 7 bucks a square foot for tile or anything crazy. It's our starter home, but we would like it to look nice. What is the average cost for something like this? we're doing the work ourselves.
How should I remodel my bathroom? I'm redoing a tiny bathroom in my house, out with the old 80's wall paper and in with a more sheik looking style. What are some good suggestions? I have a lot of slate green colors in my house. This is the bathroom in the front of the house that guests use so I want it to make a good statement. The cabinet that's in there is cherry and I'm not wanting to replace that if possible.
Ideas for a bathroom remodel and redoraction? My hub and I purchased our home three years ago, and it only has one bano! It was charming, because the tile was original from the forties. It's a pale blue. The tile on the floor was nasty, white tiny tiles from that same era. The grout is gross, and I have tried every chemical to get it cleaned. So, the rest of the fixtures are "eighties" ish-pedestial sink, three door medicine cabinet with ugly bulb lights above it. In short, it's GOTTA go, because soon, (within a few years), we need to upgrade this starter home to a bigger house. So, I'm thinking nature colors: chocolate with sage green? a vessel sink? Ideas and trends are welcome!
Bathroom Remodel - General Contractor or Bath Store?? Which is better? I just purchased a house and need to do a full bathroom remodel of a 9x6 family bathroom. Does anyone have any opinions or advice on which is the better deal with regards to time and money ... A general contractor/Home Depot or one of those bathroom showrooms which claim to be a one stop shop? I am looking for a pretty standard remodel - tile floor, double vanity sinks, tiled bath and shower combo area.
do i have to have a building permit to remodel my bathroom? this is just a debate between my boyfriend and i. this is what needs to be done. i will be knocking out a wall, redoing the plumbing and electrical work will also be done. i have done my research and so far everything is telling me you do need one... so im just making sure..
After a bathroom remodel, our new bathtub drains very, very slowly.? The remodel included replacing all the plumbing under the house. All the other drains work fine except this one. It has done this from the start, so it doesn't appear to be clogged. The plumbing was done by a friend who is an apprentice plumber. He appeared to know what he was doing, but not sure now.
Average price to remodel bathroom? Would need vanity, sink, shower, medicine cabinet, faucet, and would like to put a nice earthy looking tile thru out. It is a very small bathroom and will not be putting a tub in. Bathroom is only 9' by 7.5'. Would like ideas on a flooring also. No electrical. Everything is where I will put in new. Plumbing also is where it will stay.
How much does it cost to remodel a bathroom? I know that I'd have to buy a new tub & shower along with a toilet & sink but what else do I need to think about? We are also changing the location into a small bedroom the is about 12X14 big. I'm thinking 16 inch tile on the floors & 6 inch around the tub area. Everything else would be sheet rocked.
Bathroom Remodel Layout Help? I own a ranch style home that has a main floor and a basment. There is a 1/2 bath in master bathroom and a full bath (tub/shower) in the hallway bathroom. There is also a full bath (tub/shower) in the basement. I DEFINITELY want to put at least a shower in the master bathroom but there is no space in the current layout. Since the master bathroom and hallway bathroom are adjacent to each other I was thinking of knocking down the wall in between the two and basically putting a corner shower in the master bathroom and then taking out the tub in the hallway bathroom and making it a shower. Ideally I would like to have a shower in master bathroom, tub/shower in hallway bathroom and a tub/shower in basement bathroom but there is just not room for this unless I expand the exterior house walls and I don't want to do this. Would having two showers in the main floor and a tub in the basement be OK? I know families with kids always like having a tub but they could go to the basement for it.
